A Stunning Kitchen Makeover !!

As always I am super excited to share one of our recent projects with you and this one is beautiful! Our client wanted to update her kitchen, she is fond of shades of whites which is carried throughout her home.  We wanted to keep the space light and bright but also introduce some soft colour to complement what was existing but also make her new kitchen pop. We used Benjamin Moore's Woodlawn Blue on the upper walls and cloud white on all of the trim and molding which gives it just the right amount of colour but still keeps it soft and airy. We also used this pretty color in accents and the roman shades as well.

We decided to keep the existing layout of the kitchen and reface the cabinet doors. We also had these sprayed out in cloud white to match the trim and molding. We also added new antique brass hardware to pull it all together. We altered the kitchen island by making it all one height (the breakfast bar was originally raised higher and made it feel cluttered and closed in). The space now feels much more open and updated, we added new countertops, farmhouse sink, bridge faucet and white marble arabesque mosaic backsplash which if I do say so myself looks gorgeous!

As with any space lighting is key and we added new pendant lights over the island, we incorporated the antique brass and soft white look in the new lights which really ties everything together. We also added a new chandlier and under cabinet lighting as well.

I am a big fan of reusing some existing pieces, if possible in my client's homes. It often adds some unique character  but may require some updating to go with their new space. My client happened to have a couple of existing pieces in her kitchen that were perfect for the space but needed to be restyled to fit our new look. So we had them refinished  by Mango Reclaimed! We started with the jam cupboard, I decided to incorporate the warm white but also add an under paint of black to add some depth and to tie it in with their family room. We then had the desk restyled in milk paint in a soft grey on the bottom half which works with the new countertops and roman shades. The top was kept natural and enhanced with dark wax. We added new hardware to both pieces and I think they turned out beautifully! I also had a new calendar made for them (by the talented Melanie from Mango Reclaimed) which is now not only functional but pretty too and her existing canisters were done in chalk paint and all I have to say is wow!

So the last few things we did in this home were in the family room which was already quite lovely but we added some new lighting particularly the gorgeous chandlier which really shows off the cathedral ceiling and some pretty lamps from Penney and Co, new custom throw pillows, and a new mirror from Mango Reclaimed's inventory and what happened next? Well I'll let you be judge.. take a look at the pictures below!

I hope you enjoyed this one as much as I have enjoyed working on it! Let us know what you think of the space and if you are looking to renovate or just spruce up your space give us an email or a call and we'd be happy to book you a consultation!!

Wishing you a very Happy Sunday! xo

Urban Barn mini workshop & How to update your space

Recently I was invited to Urban Barn in Whitby to host a mini workshop on colour and how you can bring it to your space through the use of accessories and throw pillows. I must say I really enjoyed meeting all of the ladies and gentlemen who attended and I hope they found it informative!

With Fall now settled in and winter on its way, I always love adding warmth, coziness and colour to my space. Its that time of year when we spend more time indoors, we often host family functions and get togethers like thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.

You can easily update your space with some throw pillows and fun cozy accessories. I like to mix metals and add little unexpected touches here and there. As I've said before everything doesn't need to match but it should flow and have a consistent feel and style. Everything should work together and above all it should be filled with items, colours and textures you love! Winter is a great season to add in warm colours such as mustard yellow, deep reds like aubergine and warm brass accents. Also textures such as a nice hand knitted throw or even some faux fur done in the right way, adds a little something special.

I am loving Urban Barn's mustard accents right now and their grey plaid wool throws and they have the cutest fox toss cushions. They also have some great gold accents which you will see in some of the photos below. Don't be afraid to mix in a little gold or brass with your silver and nickel, its ok to do it and it adds some depth and personality!

If you would like some help updating your space for the upcoming winter and holiday season, we still have some space available for a couple of consultations but they are going quickly, so give us a call or an email to book yours!
